What is the UltraClear Laser?

The UltraClear Laser is the world’s first cold fiber laser. It is revolutionary technology which provides an unmatched experience with laser skin resurfacing. It was first approved for use in the USA by the FDA in April of 2022. Dr. Cutler Peck is one of the first doctors in the world and the only doctor in the greater Idaho Falls/Eastern Idaho region to embrace this new technology. The UltraClear laser allows Dr. Peck to provide a highly tailored treatment experience designed just for you.

How is the UltraClear laser different from other lasers?

The UltraClear laser is different than other laser technology in several ways. The revolutionary technology allows excellent results with less heat. This means there is less pain with treatment, faster healing time and the laser can be used on all skin types. This includes individuals with skin type IV, V and VI!

Additionally, the laser is “highly tunable” – meaning that the laser settings can be changed to treat specific concerns. The depth that the laser treats can be set to treat anywhere between 5 microns (that’s 0.005 or 5 thousandths of a millimeter!!!) and 2 mm!!! This allows Dr. Peck to treat very superficial pigment concerns all the way down to deep scars and wrinkles.

The amount of tissue to be treated can also be tailored to the specific need. The UltraClear laser is a “fractional ablative” laser, meaning that when the skin is treated, there are islands of treated tissue surrounded by untreated tissue. The untreated tissue helps the treated tissue heal. With the UltraClear, the percentage of tissue treated in each part of the face can be changed based on what each individual needs. If there is a young patient with thick healthy skin and very few fine lines, only a small percentage of skin needs to be treated to reach the desired result. However, if someone has areas of thin, wrinkled or excess skin, a higher percentage can be treated with the laser to obtain the desired result.

Can the UltraClear laser provide a “Lunchtime Peel”?

Many people develop “sunspots” after spending years in the sun. There are unsightly and make you look older than you are. The UltraClear 3DMiracle laser peel does a beautiful job of clearing this pigment and brightening the skin. Even better, pigment and sunspots can be treated with a true “lunchtime peel” which requires no numbing and requires less than 10 minutes of treatment time.

Is the UltraClear laser a CO2 laser?

The UltraClear laser is not a CO2 laser, but it provides comparable results with several advantages over a CO2 laser. These advantages improve the overall patient experience with their laser skin resurfacing treatment. One significant advantage is that there is significantly less pain with treatment with the UltraClear laser. Additionally, there is dramatically faster healing and less downtime. Those who undergo the most aggressive treatments are back in make-up in 4-5 days after UltraClear laser treatment – compared to 7-10 days with CO2 laser. Additionally, the revolutionary technology of the UltraClear laser provides the desired result with much less heat. This dramatically decreases the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and allows the UltraClear laser to be used on individuals with skin types IV, V and VI… something that is simply not possible to do with the CO2 laser.

How long is the recovery after an UltraClear Laser treatment?

The time needed to recover after an UltraClear laser treatment depends on what you are treating. Lightest treatments targeting pigment only will result in mild peeling for 2-3 days. Treatments targeting deeper wrinkles or acne scars will heal in 3-4 days with some mild redness which will resolve within a few weeks or sooner.
